HOW COULD AT&T HAVE CREATED THE TRANSISTOR SO QUICKLY
IN 1947 WITHOUT THE INPUT OF ALIEN TECHNOLOGY?
Aliens to this country perhaps...The first three patents for the field-effect transistor principle were registered in Germany in 1928 by physicist Julius Edgar Lilienfeld, but Lilienfeld published no research articles about his devices, and they were ignored by industry. In 1934 German physicist Dr. Oskar Heil patented another field-effect transistor. There is no direct evidence that these devices were built, but later work in the 1990s show that one of Lilienfeld's designs worked as described and gave substantial gain. Legal papers from the Bell Labs patent show that Shockley and Pearson had built operational versions from Lilienfeld's patents, yet they never referenced this work in any of their later research papers or historical articles.
It's a simple concept newb. Use a small current to control the flow of another, potentially larger current by sandwiching a "switch" into the circuit. All it took was the discovery of a material that could act as insulator until that material itself was subjected to a specific current (i.e. germanium or silicon with boron or phosphorus impurities).scared? wrote:yeah those patents from germans...where did they get those ideas? look into no0b...
