Hey Iccy, can't you just admit that you are wrong about that memory footprint thing and leave it at that? I mean, I can't believe you chose to bring it up in this thread after you got told in the last one?

iccy you have some reason to feel a bit put off by the style of debate you invite. But on the other hand, it's also true that you've shrugged off the valid explanations for Vistas wonky RAM usage compared to XP, and dismissed people's explanations of how it worked. You DID do this, and it WILL leave some people feeling rightly a bit pissed off and a bit less willing to explain patiently.

They took the time to explain roughly how it worked in the last thread, and for you to post in this one and just offhand poo-poo what they already explained to you and continue with the same argument just shows that you don't have any respect for people when they DO explain things to you, so people are quite rightly left wondering what the point of doing so is, they might as well just mock you.

And to say that having the debate would be like debating religion is only inviting further mockery, because for one, the issue is nowhere near rocket science and it's actually a fairly straightforwards technical issue that's been explained pretty well. For two, people already explained the reasoning to you in the other thread, and what you're basically saying when you say that its as pointless to argue about it as it would be to argue about religion is 'I don't understand what you've explained and it would show me as being wrong so instead of saying I don't understand I'm just going to pretend like there's no wrong or right answer and say blah lets not talk about it anymore'.

Erm, that about sums things up. And yeah torms debating style is fucking rubbish when he gets passionate. But its different strokes for different folks. I'm obsessively pedantic, Torm often dips into sarcastic mockery, and you often descend into rambling when angered. Everyone's different, but that doesn't eliminate the possibility of still maintaining a reasonable debate without sulking and saying we're going to ignore each other.

I pointed you to some documentation so that maybe you could learn a little rather than repeat tired and disproven FUD. There's no point in writing all of that out when more qualified people than me have done so already.

As for field experience, lets put this in perspective: you're a currently unemployed home PC repair tech. Your old job is one that a person could almost train a monkey to do and its where most people in the industry start, not where they remain eight years later unless that person is incompetent and unable to be trusted with anything more complex.

Point taken. I guess i let my emotions get the best of me sometimes. I was thinking about it on the way up the walk to my pad just now and i realize just how bad i owned myself. Regardless of who is right or wrong. I will say though, i did not read much of what certain people said and replied too it cause at the time oddly enough im so involved i think in ending the drama that i create more and it just spiraled out of control. Oh well lesson learned.

Well there im forced to disagree a little, cause i do understand the topic, i just cant didnt agree with the related facts if i remember right from that thread. I didnt express myself right though, its not like debating religion, i should have said " lets agree to disagree." It gets to a point where its not fun and interesting and all i wanna do is end it and stop fighting, at that point i dont care what i look like, just no more drama :(

Props to the Fooster.

Ill try to cool out more, i was being a real bitch imho and not helping my point of view to be expressed. So on that note, sorry, even to you torm.

Eh? I have been working for BH for 8 years, i have been a sub contractor for this particular company for 3 years, i was only unemployed for like 2 months 3+ years ago when i quit BH cause of the bullshit clique mentalities and went back to contracting. I do high speed installs, corp network setup, VOIP installs from the ground up and as a contractor i work for a company that will do anything i can sell, which is working on vista computers, macs, linux, not unix though, bleh. Im a certed mcsa that took it serious, did the labs and took the tests when you couldnt mem the answers from testking, you had to do many real time labs. And i have setup those networks in a real world environments with varying platforms. Never have a said once that i was mr awesome and pwnz you all in my knowledge, ill eat my words and kiss your toes if you can find one instance of me saying my knowledge was superior then anyones in the tech field, i try to not think like that and i just cant see myself doing that.

Are you sure you dont have me mixed up with someone else?

Look man, im just gonna say this. All i know is what i see daily. The issues i see daily on the 6 days a week i work in the 15 hours i put in daily. Thats all. Believe what you will, see ya on a more common ground topic.

We done with the drama Torm. From this point on. So if you got it, just know im probably not going to respond to it, but if you got something interesting and engaging to say, i will.

Peace to ya man, seriously.

I elected to upgrade when my games HDD crashed*, and XP would only boot to safe mode.

* Lost my beloved :rtcw: :q2: :q3: and yes I still have the original CDs :p but never really got back into them. I do miss UT though....

So, I didn't really have a choice re upgrade, well, yes I could have stuck with XP but since the change my only real comment is that is seems more stable.
