Temporary Internet Files

Post by Transient »

I know that when my temp internet files folder gets full that when I right-click and save an image, it sets them to untitled.bmp instead of jpegs or gifs. What I don't get is why it's happening so damn often. I clear the folder, and the next day it's full again. If I remember correctly, it used to take months before it filled up. Any idea what's causing this?

My guess is that streamed videos get kept in that same folder and that may be my problem? Or Winamp radio station streams somehow go there? No idea.

why not just increase the cache size?
and why doesn't IE have a "delete temp files on exit" feature like every other browser worth a shit.

it doesnt delete temp files so that if you go back to the same page, it just checks if its been updated, if it hasnt then it loads the temp file saving bandwidth and makes it slightly quicker :paranoid:

I doubled it and it still fills up. From 1024 MB to 2048.

It does.

Internet Options, Advanced tab, near the bottom there is a checkbox "Empty Temporary Internet files folder when browser is closed".
