Were any brits here thinking of picking it up before? Its a bit of a shame really, but yeah, both Wii and PS2 versions won't be sold in the UK.

bah, just because it's irredeemably violent and sadistic :(

i liked the first one, didn't really hold my atttention, but it used the ps2 graphics well and the brian cox voiceover was brilliant.

A friend told me that the first Man Hunt was probably the worst game he's ever played, and I haven't given it a thought since.

To tell the trust I never really liked the first, played it for about 5mins and just thought it was a poor game. Never tried again. A few people I know like it.

Its the second game to be banned though, the latest since Carmageddon, heh.

Reading a lot of previews and they have seemed quite positive and fun to play.
It would have been a laugh to try on the Wii. Shame :tear::icon34:

Rockstar should sue the BBFC from this ban. The torrent d/l's will be well popular i expect.

Right im off to "unremit bleakness and callousness of tone", fucking pathetic :icon33:

I don't understand the double standard employed in the wonderful world of censorship. Games are evil, films are much less evil, books are downright good.

Funny, because historically speaking human misery has been justified through books far more often than films or videogames.

Although it has been said that Pol Pot based his Year Zero genocide policy on Pacman, where the urban proletariat had to emulate the common labourer by leaving the city and systematically picking crops off the fields in a certain maze like way, while always under threat of death.

...yeah.

I can write a book about that the merits of child labour and systematic ethnic cleansing and have it published with no censor threat whatsoever. I could make a film that features bloody decapitations and goat sex and have it published with no censor threat whatsoever.

But may the lord jesus save me when i try to make a computer game about it, because we all know what happens then.

EDIT: okay maybe goat sex is a bad example. Let's talk bloody decapitations and wildly creative torture.

I think its more to do with interaction and visual, at least, "I" think ;)

A book, you read it, and thats it. You need to be messed up to know whats going on in great detail before hand.

A film, where, its there in picture, but its none interactive. The guys gonna get his head cut off, but its presented in a closed off way. You cant interact, or pan the camera.

A game, well, YOU can cut the head off, when YOU want. You can then kick it about, and watch it roll around and leave blood.

So in short, interaction I believe plays a huge part in all this. But theres no BS about this, the whole ESRB and BBFC ratings board needs to sit down and re-think a few things.

Ann Coulter does just that sort of thing. Probably the film, too.

Film and Game media are newborns compared to the amount of time books have been around. That kinda kills that aspect of the argument.

It's true though that 'new and unusual' tends to be treated with greater unease, more judgement errors are made, and this is often compounded due to society often being most strongly guided by mid-aged to old-folks, whereas the younger audiences who are more flexible to change don't have as much of a say in things.

There is a social benefit to all of this however, as it provides a kind of stability to prevent each generation radically altering society in a flip-flop manner.

lol - eh .. reading a book is about the most actively engaging "passive" (i.e. game, film etc) activity you'll ever do.

a game fails completely to suspend disbelief - even now, films mostly the same, books ... actively engage your mind as you paint all the pictures and invest all of the emotion ..

after books film can affect the most .. games == passive, but with puzzle or coordination based engagement - is not the same at all - never will be - the best it;ll get is on par with film and no film will ever make you want to kill ..

whole thing is mental

Manhunt 2 won't appear on Playstation 3 and Wii anymore and it's also completely banned in Italy. I expect Germany to follow suit soon, if they haven't already. Here in the Netherlands, at least one political party wants to ban the game as well but that probably won't get through.

Now Take Two is saying they're "shelving" the PS3 and Wii versions, but that's bollocks as they can't release it anyway because both Sony and Nintendo don't allow AO rated games on their systems.

Maybe PS3 and Wii will get a softer version.

Erm... The Ps3 was never getting the game anyway. It was a "PS2" game.

lol.

Anyway, people are rating the game one of, if not THE best on Wii. Which is a real kick in the balls because I wont even be given the chance of playing it now incase I kill somebody in real life. The horror.

All criminals are let out eventually no matter what country you live in. Caskets count.
