I feel like using the xbox controller for my PC.
I dont have a fully wired 360 controller, but I do have a recharger wire. Its a seperate usb wire that can charge the battery if its dead. I can also use it as a direct connection to the xbox even if my battery isnt in the controller. I put the usb into my computer and a message popped up saying new hardware found. I installed various drivers, but non of them seemed to work. I have a Xbox 360 accesories driver, but the "status" shows nothing is connected.
Do I need a xbox controller that is wired completely? Or is there another way around this?

I think it should work via recharger cable. Failing that, you may need to get the Wireless Gaming Receiver:

I'm using the Xbox 360 wireless controller with the receiver and it's ace!

Ah, I just found something weird out. Aparantly the recharger wire is just a source of power. It doesnt transmit data at all (at least thats what I belive).
I had my xbox on and I stuck my recharger wire into my computer, however when I turned the controller on, it registered on the xbox still. Even though the usb was in my computer, the signal still made it to the xbox. So aparantly the wire just provides power to the controller while it transmits wireless signals to the xbox.
So in theory if its possible (it should be right?) I could get 4 recharger cables and stick them into my PC, however all 4 controllers would still send signals to my xbox. Pointless unless you just happen to have 4 dead wireless controllers and 4 players wanting to play a 4 player game.
