GET THE DARKNESS
WHAT a great game. i got back from holiday shopping about six hours ago and only just turned it off! and only because the missus wants to watch a dvd. everything about it is great, the game play, the look even the extras are well thought out. there's a comic that you can pan around on and zoom into.
so far 9/10, well worth the £39.
i also got a new laptop bag that should of been £180 for £160, booya.

I'd say rent it, but you don't do that.
the opening sequence was fucking classic. Just an awesome intro to the game.
one thing though - and I notice this with a lot of 360 games - things look really dark in the default settings. This game has color correction settings, which appear to be just built in settings for different color/brightness/contrast schemes (since all you can control is gamma).
It leaves me wondering how dark things are really supposed to look - I don't want to crank the gamma up and wash all the color out, but at the same time it helps just a bit to see what the hell you are shooting at.
Still, thus far this game is just great. Top notch voice acting. I went through the opening scene twice just to watch it again.

I live on the west coast and gamefly games usually get to me 3 days after ordering them, so its a convenient thing. During the summer I go to the 3 or 4 games a month out at a time. It's really decreased the number of games I buy - the ones I buy are limited to those that would have a lot of replayability or great online play like Forza 2.
There are various tv's in the game - one in a bum's shopping cart in a subway station. You can watch full episodes of cartoons like Popeye.
I'm at my gf's house (in game) now, and we are sitting to watch TV. I'm supposed to get up and leave, but I decided to sit and see what happens. The TV went through the entire credits/opening sequence of the original "To Kill a Mockinbird" movie. Right now the movie has been playing in game for the last 10 minutes or so on the TV. I can't believe how much actual footage they have in here. It's not really a necessary detail, but its done very well and ads a touch of authenticity to things.

Heh, that's a nice touch.tnf wrote:There are various tv's in the game - one in a bum's shopping cart in a subway station. You can watch full episodes of cartoons like Popeye.

I love how every review out there slates the review, but everybody fucking loves it. Shows how much they know really these days.
The game rocks, period. The only problem with the game is the Riddick style movement (You know, try walking, stopping, turning and strafing, and its like he gets stuck).
Other than that, I'm loving it. I haven't put much time into it yet because I've just beat RE4 for Wii, but I got to the part where you just got to a crime lords house (Though some back alley ways after the police chopper). I'll pick it back up later.
MP wise the games just a simple fast paced Deathmatch game, again, its been slated for it. But its just Quake 3, with different weapons. So it should still be a laugh really.
