That he survived, and escaped Earth. Not much of a stretch to assume he is going to regroup with more Decepticons.

if you are going to post a spoiler, atleast make it the background color of the post rather then black... you can still clearly read it :)

Eh, better than white. Didn't care enough to find out the color of the cell.

I saw it tonite and thought it was cool and all but....ffs...someone please shoot Micheal Bay.

Funny, awesome action and visual fx, terrific sound and nicely shot....but utterly laden with Bay cheese and that shitty Hans Zimmer-style music that was literally copy/pasted from The Island.

Good flick and entertaining but crap at the same time.

I know exactly what you mean. Four scenes stuck out for needing to be cut faster than Michael Bay's wrists: The getting in the car scene, the holding hands scene, the alleyway tow-truck scene, and the pre-heroic act "hey!..." scene all visible coming a mile away and take away from the movie.

By the way am I the only one who noticed that they only killed the black robot?

Ok I saw it yesterday, and I have to say that sure, the visuals were very nice, but some things were horribly, horriby stupid.

*SPOILERS*

Good things:

- Very nice visuals in general, as usual when Michael Bay is directing

- A couple of really top notch visual scenes, for example in the beginning when that Deceptecon was sending Hummers and tanks flying in the attack on the US base, and then when they called in the AC-130 to take out that scorpion robot, that was pure ownage. Then there was one scene right after Bumblebee got his legs shot off, when the main characters was recovering from the explosion, they found each other's hands and it was really campy, but it did look really good.

- The teenage main characters weren't as annoying as I had expected, that teeny-love subplot was ok I think, and expected regarding this film's main target audience.

- Some genuinely funny moments, for examples when the guy's mother started talking about masturbation, I was loling irl. John Turturro had a couple of lol moments too.

- Robots using the Internet to find information (ebay etc.), very nice touch, again good thinking regarding the target audience.

Bad things:

- That entire "hacking" subplot. I mean, come on! Wtf were they thinking there? Hacking a system with a "sound", and then a virus taking out every network in the world? Credit people with some fucking intelligence ffs.

- That annoying little robot that was doing the hacking. Seemed more to me like a spawn of George Lucas' sick and demented imagination than anything else. I half expected Jar-Jar Binks to step onto the stage there every time I saw that robot.

- Some genuinely unfunny moments, for example those fat black dudes, very contrieved and meh. But the kids in the theatre were laughing and applauding, so I guess target audience etc. etc.

- Most of the transformers were nothing but extras, lacking any kind of character. The Deceptacons weren't even properly presented, they just got a caption with their name and then everyone started shooting. No introductions, no motivations, no nothing. That aspect felt just like another episode of a Saturday morning cartoon, which is ok I guess regarding the heritage, but that doesn't really make for good cinema.

- Some minor stupid plot points, like why go into the middle of a city and call for air support? (because it makes for a good place to have a visually impressive final fight, I guess).

Why that whole thing about "putting the cube in my chest" without offering any explanation as to why that would destroy it and kill the robot? (because it provides a way for the weak main character to actually kill the big and almost indestructable bad guy, that's why), and finally why dump the remaining "dead" robots into the ocean where "the pressure and cold will destroy any trace of them" (yeah right, because you have already 2 more films planned, and you can't kill of the main bad guy in the first one).

Summing all this up I can't really see how some of you guys can give it a 10/10 (which would imply that the movie is essentially perfect, and the best movie ever made) or even a 9/10, when there are so many incongrueties and stupid plot points. But sure, slap enough impressive visuals on top of a shitty script, and people will gobble it up regardless and become too dazzled to think beyond the glossy CG-animated surface and Wagneresqe soundtrack.

Grudge; that was a very nice review and most of which I agree with especially the little robot and the reference to jar jar binks I thought the exact same thing! But on the other hand I didn't pick the movie apart like you did I just enjoyed the movie as a whole. Sure I'm old and decreped and this movie was really not designed to please me and my old age but I still enjoyed it. I just chalked up the plot to hit the target audience which is the young folk in which case they’re a little simple minded.

I looked at the movie as a whole and how the director did a good job on the film. I certainly couldn’t do it. If I could direct a film it would be more like a Quentin Tarantino film with a small nick of a razor blade and a gallon of blood has splashed on the walls. :olo:

Cool, but don't get me wrong, I did enjoy it, it is great entertainment, but it's not the OMG BEST EVER 10/10 that some other people seem to think IMO, there are plenty of better action movies out there, so there was definitely room for improvements (but also plenty of worse ones too).

lol, I just saw on imdb that the writers of Transformers are also responsible for such cinematic masterpieces as "Catwoman", "The Core" and "Xena: Warrior Princess".

lol, that figures

I don't really understand why you're knocking on it so much. I thought it was one of the best sci-fi/action movies I've seen in a long time.

*Spoilers* I do agree with 2 points: dumping Megatron in the ocean, that was stupid and I remember making the same remark right after the movie. But immediately after I said "I guess the point here is that humans aren't as bright as they think they are and maybe a little overconfident. And that there is going to be a sequel." So even though it seemed like a bit of a hole, it could be made to fit in the movie.

The other point is taking the cube into the middle of down town and making a human kid carry it up 40 flights of stairs to the top of a building for an airlift. If the chopper had picked it up, what were they going to do with it after that? This point, I thought, was completely irreconcilable with the film. There doesn't seem to be any way to have it make sense with the rest of the story.

All the other issues with the film, I kind of consider nitpicks. (The hacking bit - I understood that to mean they were taking down the entire worldwide US military network, not every network in the world. I could've misunderstood it, but taking down every network in the world would not have served the plot in any way that I can tell.)

Actually, the head of one of those little bots that was the size of a boombox turned into a cell phone. The size ratio wasn't always the same.

I said aloud, "it's always the black guy," and got a bunch of chuckles from the seats around me. :icon26:

The hacking bit was supposed to be global, I think, because the land lines AND cell phone satellite signals were both dead.

So is this movie worth seeing in theatres, or is it just well enough to watch for the price of internet admission?

If you don't go see it in the theaters you're not very smart.

I thought there was quite a bit of funny stuff in it, myself. I was put off by the scene with the Autobots at the kid's house at first, but when I thought back to the cartoon, that's how they acted, so I guess it was alright.

That's exactly what was going through my mind. When I stopped and thought about the cartoon, I thought "Oh yea, they were corny jokesters back then too."
