As soon as the rest of you come up with an incorruptible wonder government that hands out free puppies and sunshine kisses, we'll be sure to revolt and establish it in the US of A...

Lol, because a 100% perfect solution is required before realising that the existing situation needs changing.

Or wait, perhaps that's a line of reasoning that does nothing but assure you that there's nothing that can be done about things.

*sigh* I can't wait until all the turrists are deaded and the golden arches gleam over Tehran so we can get back to the halcyon days of Frankenberry alert level.

Honestly, I wouldn't back a revolution thats just going to change the color of the shit and necessitate yet another revolution in the next century.

Not only that, but I don't think a revolution is what we need. I'm not sure what we need but I know full-out civil war is a long way off.

Any governmental system will eventually be controlled by corrupt motherfuckers, some systems just have it built in from the getgo (tyranny), others rely on idealist circumstances which are unreachable because of the corrupt bastards (communism) and for others it takes a while to find the loopholes (capitalism/democracy). What you want for democracy is a government which consists solely of people with integrity. Good luck with that since most/all democracies are coupled with capitalism in which the rich have an advantage over the poor in just about everything. What do votes mean when the the people voted in can be bribed?

I may be a pessimist, but I personally think a revolution is the only chance we would have at any kind of meaningful change at this point.

What else could you do?

If we got rid of every politician in Washington, the lobbyists would make sure things got right back to the way they were.

If we got rid of all the lobbyists, the politicians would find another way to make the side money that they've gotten used to.

And one of the most important things that needs to be done for our country, In My Opinion, is to dismantle the Federal Reserve. That is never going to happen without a revolution.

fat fuck cant give up 5 pounds and youre telling us we should give up everything.

The sad thing is that THIS is what real terrorist cells against the US actually want.

internal reform won't stop corruption but a violent revolution will? let's look at the list of militarized internal reforms:

English Civil War c.1640's - solved nothing, only looks good because the Glorious Rev (essentially an invasion) fixed it
French Rev - total failure, rise of Napoleon who also eventually failed
1848 Revolutions - limited success in some parts of Europe, total failure in Germany where it leads to further consolidation of power (no successful democratic gov in unified Germany until 1990's?)
US civil war - frees slaves who remain oppressed for umm ever, establishes monolithic federal government. I'd call that a wash in terms of democratic ideals.
Russia 1917 - yea, that Soviet thing. gg
China 1950's - yea, Mao. gg
Iraq - Saddam
Iran - went from bad to crazy
Cambodia?
anything in Africa, ever?

Do you mean the one where a revolutionary set of principles such as individualism and equality were introduced (which directly led to the american revolution) and Nappy went on to dominate Europe for a couple of decades?

Yeah, total failure, that.

I also wouldn't count the various communist / socialist revolutions as utter failures. The communists usually made things a bit better before they made them worse and the socialists did pretty well in most cases.

And the US revolution did wonderfully, right up to 1946.

In all seriousness....good luck with the revolution thing.

It has been noted in many discussions and on news broadcasts that there is a huge tide of discontent that is lingering amongst the populance. The people of America are way ahead of their government on most issues (when they're informed - not misinformed) and it seems to me they're actually waiting for something big to happen...most likely in the form of someone (ANYONE!!!!) impeaching Bush/Cheney.

But again it seems like America is waiting - yet again - for someone else to take care of the problem (as in a dickless House of Reps). It isn't working, the people know it but they're still waiting for some fucking hero to take over. I think they miss the fact that it's everyone's job to keep it working, not just the suits they vote for (if they bother) every 4 or 8 years.

Dunno what to say about that except "stop pressing the snooze button and wake the fuck up".
