You talk of your career and academic successes, Jackal. Do you think that has changed your attitude toward others when they don't match your perceived intelligence, persistence, or skill level?
I don't know. I lean more towards "I doubt it" though. I don't think I'm particularly smart or informed about most things and I certainly know that I'm not perfect. Most of my successes I attribute to luck with a healthy dose of a mild terror of failing.

It's intolerance of difference of opinion. You'd be better at changing people's opinions if you could tolerate differences of opinions better.

Also, it could be caffeine, people have caffeinated drinks in the cinema, which might make them say stupid, more reactionary things. If you drank a caffenated drink in the cinema that might make your reaction to a difference of opinion more feirce.

It's their opinion that they should point things out in the adverts, whereas it's your opinion that they should be quiet. They might be more inclined to say stupid and reactionary things about adverts cause of the caffeine.

You gave the example of a cafe (I presume you mean cafe not Dutch coffe shop), where you and they would be consuming caffeine.

They might talk louder and say more stupid reactionary things, you might not be able to tolerate their differences of opinion cause you are high on caffeine.

You need to learn to calm down and accept that others don't always agree with you. Stopping consuming caffeine could help with that. Learning to meditate could help. Or just take a deep breath and relax. Breathe deeply. Close your eyes and relax. That's basically what meditation is.

You're very uptight, people are pissing you off easily.

I find listening to music helps me relax.

(So long as it's good music of course.)

Jackal I am the same way. i despise the general public, and people wonder why I never want to 'go to the club' or some shit.... or be amongst the general population at all. I don't want to be looped in with all those people.

3. Incorrect video aspect ratio renders the video's contents both unwatchable and inaccurate.

If you can't stand people chatting about a movie preview that just means you're bitter and need more social interaction or something.

I think you're wrong. If there's one thing I do it is tolerate other people's opinions, IF they're informed opinions. I err on the side of caution with this approach as well, always assuming that the person could easily know more than me.

What I'm talking about with regards to the movies is that these are things people do over and over, whether they've had the conversation previously or not. I understand people getting excited over a preview but what's the point in answering a simple trivia question if A) The answer is clearly evident, or B) You've answered the question before.

A lot of these people seem to do this because they think it gives them some sort of intellectual credibility when in fact it does the opposite. I can be a very social person, and I'm generally very nice to people. I never fight and frankly don't believe violence is an answer to anything. I just wish people would try a bit harder and not count on the media or the cultural zeitgeist to form their opinions for them.

I'm afflicted with Extremely Low Stupidity Tolerance. Jackal I think you're a fellow ELST sufferer, I feel your pain.

In all honesty, lots and lots and lots of people are rather dumb, and this is not at all difficult to spot. I don't understand why it is that when you recognize that people are saying stupid things and it irritates you that you're characterized as 'bitter' instead of 'cognizant'.

I still think it's all in good fun, being social doesn't mean you'll always have a fucking epiphany in every single conversation. And once you mix the opposite sex in the group you're sure to get alot of preposterous conversations going.

I like how plained has been pretty much reduced to the equivalent of a blithering homeless man over the years and yet we give him free reign to go around and ruin whatever threads he feels like through his constant trolling.
