Sort of. I think the 360s manufactured in July have this fixed. There's an extra heatsink on the GPU, IIRC. The 65nm CPUs should go even further to reduce heat.
It worked fine after a while. I wonder if I have to wait for it to completely die before getting a replacement.
The Zephyr motherboard is the one that started shipping w/ the Elites that has HDMI that will soon be standard on all 360s. The Falcon motherboard has the 65nm CPU, but hasn't been sighted in the real world, yet.

Mine died last week and my brothers died last month. He just got his in December (not sure on the build date) and I got mine last summer with a build date of 3/06.
I'm sort of glad it happened sooner than later I guess.
still kicking myself for buying the extended warranty on my 2nd 360 because MS was still doing the 90 day limited warranty at the time I got it. Subsequent to that they extended the warrant coverage and replaced my first 360 for free. I'm wondering if this 2nd one that I bought does go tits up should I bring it back to circuit city for the extended warranty replacement or go through MS. Also, does anyone know if that 3-year warranty on the red ring of death will apply to the replacement 360 I got from MS, or are they trying to do this as on the cheap as possible and making the replacement good on 1 360 per person? I am guessing that you're good for a replacement as long as you are within the 3-year window for the warranty.
