Can no longer update my q3config.cfg manually

Hey All - for some reason recently, whenever I try to update my q3config.cfg file manually to turn certain features off, once I save the file in baseq3 and fire up Quake 3, the config file gets overwritten with a base version, saving none of my changes to the original. Why is that? I've tried doing it after installing the game fresh but it still overlays my updated version each time I hop on. Any help would be appreciated.

rename the one you want to keep to "autoexec.cfg" and see if that helps.

You can also try making it read only.
