Re: god dam u all to hell!!!
Actually, unless I am just totally out of the loop, CRT is still _considerably_ better than LCD in terms of refresh rate. I have sort of gotten used to it (my widescreen LCD's rate) but every time I see a game on a CRT I am literally shocked at how creamy-smooth the motion on the screen is. Then when you go back to LCD it's like it's tearing out your eyeballs with every turn of the mouse in-game.
That said, the convenience of widescreen is enough to keep me using it, because I don't play Quake as much. But if I were still in "HARDCORE PRO QUAKE MODE" there's no way I would put up with an LCD.

Re: god dam u all to hell!!!
i'd consider an LCD if the price of this came down:

I've got a 4ms LCD that does 1280x1024 @ 75 Hertz and a 24" LCD that does 1920 x 1200 @ 75 Hertz. No ghosting and a perfect gaming picture....
I can't imagine having a 24" CRT on my desk. There wouldn't be room for anything else.

Re: god dam u all to hell!!!
I tried to use an LCD but I wasn't able to do it. The color was off and I could always notice the delay in gaming. I use a 24" widescreen CRT that does 1920x1600 @100hz.
I went through a few LCD monitors too. All high end and nice enough, but they just cant keep up with this CRT monitors image that I have now.

Re: god dam u all to hell!!!
I agree -- I don't have the space for a widescreen crt, but the smooth motion would be amazing to have again.

Well you can either download a new daughter or a new monitor. It's up to you.scared? wrote:just got a new trintron monitor a few weeks ago(favorite monitor in the world...cuz i'm smart)...well my daugther scratched the screen in two places with a rock...should i destroy her?

Todays flatscreens are better than anything a CRT can offer anymore. CRT is outdated technology. You might as well go with a monochrome display.
My LCD has a 1ms response time, it's widescreen, and has the best colour saturation I have ever seen on a PC display monitor.
Plus, with a press of a single button, the screen adjusts itself to a perfect geometrical fit.

completely wrong...and thats a fact...crt's r better...as far as image quality and versatility...lcd r better as far as size energy efficiency and eye fatigue...Turbine wrote:Todays flatscreens are better than anything a CRT can offer anymore. i care about the things that matter...not the moronics...
sry...thats just the way it is...
Re: god dam u all to hell!!!
A better monitor doesn't mean a monitor taking less space on your desk or a monitor which you can setup geometrically with a single button...it's all about having a 120Hz refresh rate, kicking ass and raping daughters in q3...and no matter what you lcd fruitloops think, none of you morons will actually convince me that shadowing has completely dissapeared in the new models...it's just a bunch of horseshit.Turbine wrote:Todays flatscreens are better than anything a CRT can offer anymore. I bought my Trinitron when your mom was still wiping your nose, kid...and it's still in mint condition...that's right, without dead pixels and rock scratches...jellus?

Wait for OLED monitors. Scared?
Re: god dam u all to hell!!!
Actually I'm waiting for the morons who make LCDs to finally release a good one which is actually worth my time and money....and I'm still waiting....been waiting for a long time in fact...rofl@moronsTurbine wrote:Wait for OLED monitors. Scared?
Re: god dam u all to hell!!!
the apple 17" & 21" studio displays have trinitron tube in them and they are frickin cheap as chips.
sadly i doen think apple put the good boards in there to enable 120 .
maybe it can be forced but i'm not sure.
they are dirt cheap tho
shipping is a killer but local pick-up would fix that.

Re: god dam u all to hell!!!
rofl...I still remember when tournaments managers decided to switch to LCDs for the tourneys a few years ago...lol if they only knew...they almost unleashed a riot of angry gamers out there...think it was officially renamed "The Ghost Tournament"
Re: god dam u all to hell!!!
OLEDs have a refresh rate of 180. And a response time of a CRT.
Plus they can be viewed from any angle and are really, really bright. This is because unlike LCDs, they have neither backlights nor chemical shutters that must open and close. Instead each pixel illuminates like a light bulb.
OLED PC displays are about a year off from now. So far they are used on new MP3's (like my Samsung YP-K3) and cellphones.
Oh, and they can bend and twist, and still work.
