But also, in president Bush's speech to the American Legion yesterday, we find this tiny, almost innoncent-sounding line:
( http://www.whitehouse.gov/news/releases ... 828-2.html )Bush wrote: I have authorized our military commanders in Iraq to confront Tehran's murderous activities.
Now I may just be paranoid, but this sentence sounds an awful lot like the statement he made when he informed the country that he had already ordered military strikes on Iraq. Does it not?
This shit is getting a little scary as the year wears on, and I really wouldn't put it past him (would anyone?) to order our military to strike Iran without telling a soul in Congress or anywhere else until after the fact. In fact, I postulated this quite a while back, when he first started talking about how Iran was attacking our troops in Iraq, and how this could be used as a pretext for launching an attack on Iran under the guise of "self defense."
Anybody care to ease my paranoia here?
