I have XP Pro, sp2, all valid and updated.
I am logged in as X user, an administrator, but when I try to click my computer, C, docs and settings, X user, it says Cannot access X user, access is denied.
How can access be denied when I am the administrative user of the same account I am trying to access?
cant access user accouint
Re: cant access user accouint
NTFS File permissions is one possibility. Do a quick google for 'taking ownership' of an NTFS folder and see if that fixes it.
This can happen if (for example) your user account is deleted then you recreate the same account with the same name. It looks like the same account but Windows knows it's not because each account is uniquely identified with a GUID number.

Seems that there are 2 versions of windows installed. There is a D partition which happwns to be the boot partition and all the data is on D. Thanks for the reply
