Pillcity custom map...won't work

Im trying to join a server using the Pillcity map, but i can't get it to work. i've downloaded the 12.333mb version, and copied it to baseq3, im using 1.16n, and so is the server.

i can see the map icon when i use the in-game browser, it will start to load, but then the player and weapon icons are shown as grey blanks, then i get kicked back to the main screen....

i have tried downloading from a few sites, some come as pillcity.pk3.zip, and ive tried renaming the file to just pillcity.pk3 before putting in baseq3, but it won't work, does anyone have any idea why this might be....?

Think it has more to do with what version of quake the server is running and if they are running a mod alongside that. Btw, pillcity is one big map, i hope you join a server with a large playercount.

Edit: (check out if that server is running a mod you don't have is what i'm trying to get across)
