I'm usually pretty good at keeping excess things off my machine so that only the bare minimum of things are running and I never have spyware issues. But for the last couple weeks or so my HDD has been making sounds that indicate there is disk activity constantly and its starting to drive me nuts.
I've only got 1 gig of ram so I'm wondering if that might have something to do with it.
Any suggestions on where to begin or are there any apps that will tell me what processes are accessing my drive so I know whats going on? the drive has been defragged.

Are you running XP or Vista?

In the task manager is the CPU showing as idle as well or is some application drawing some usage? That might point towards what's accessing the HD.
