A lot of people would say it's a bad idea, on your first day out of prison, to go right back to stalking the tranny hooker that knocked out five of your teeth. But that's how I roll..

That really has to be the worse flame. Ever. Yet it's hilarious. I don't know why.

The Devil's Rejects - 6/10
I finally gave this a go and I wasn't disappointed. House of 1000 Corpses was complete crap so I wasn't expecting much, but Rob Zombie did a fair job with this one. The characters were wonderfully horrible and twisted, but I found William Forsythe's 'good sheriff turned vigilante' character a bit forced. Diamond Dallas Page and Daniel Trejo were two of the best portrayals of dirtbags I've ever seen.
I was to I would be deluged with gratuitous violence, but there was just enough to get the point across. The only disturbing part was the 'face mask' bit. The other high point for me was the integration of the music, very well done.
The ending was too predictable, but I thought the film was decent.
Zodiac - 5/10 It was pretty much the same as the book, which was chilling because it's a true story. Jake Gyllenhaal was fairly flat, but at times was convincing as the obsessed amateur investigator. The movie simply ended up running too long.
One of the freakier details about the Zodiac killer that was omitted was the fact that he stabbed one of his victims THREE HUNDRED TIMES. That's dedication.

It was pretty good, but don't expect Shaun of the Dead.

I pity people who think this is worthwhile cinema.I'm sorry, but that second statement totally invalidates the first one.sliver wrote: The Matrix: 10/10

Higher than T2, Blade Runner, Goldfinger, and Platoon.
Re: The last movie you saw
I would question the validity of the entire review site if they placed The Matrix over Platoon.

The Hunting Party 5/10
A true story with Richard Gear about a Journalist who tracks down a Chechnya mass murder who killed his girlfriend. Fucking yawn.... The trailer makes it out to be something it tries to hard to be.... Wait for it to come on cable.

Re: The last movie you saw
Hmm, rottentomatoes gives The Matrix an 86, and gives the Bourne Supremacy an 82 ( http://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/bourne_supremacy/ ).sliver wrote: http://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/matrix/

Higher than T2, Blade Runner, Goldfinger, and Platoon.
And the American Film Institute says The Matrix is a better "Thriller" than Halloween, Platoon, T2, The Day The Earth Stood Still, Phantom of the Opera, Poltergeist, Dracula, The Picture of Dorian Grey, The Guns of Navarone, Braveheart, Night of the Living Dead, and Full Metal Jacket. How convincing!
So yea:
Re: The last movie you saw
I question the fact that they put Platoon over Full Metal Jacket, which was clearly a more incisive look at Nam. (Kubrick = satire, Stone = jingoism.)Captain Mazda wrote:I would question the validity of the entire review site if they placed The Matrix over Platoon.
Some people would question why Barb Wire was left off the list, or why Conan the Barbarian wasn't higher than Rear Window.
The whole point is that it's the AFI, so you can disagree all you like, but they are as unassailable as it gets in the rather subjective field of film evaluation.
Re: The last movie you saw
I knew someone would bring that up, I'm just sad it had to be you. And the second half of your post isn't even worth responding to.R00k wrote:Hmm, rottentomatoes gives The Matrix an 86, and gives the Bourne Supremacy an 82 ( http://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/bourne_supremacy/ ).
