I don't buy newspapers and I don't watch TV.
And if I did watch TV, at least in the UK you have the choice of ad-free TV thanks to the BBC.

How many product placements are there on Battlestar Galactica, Star Trek, Eurika and Fire Fly DVD's? None.
The shows that do include product placement are not worth my time, and are usually in the category of "hip and awful"
And I don't buy movie DVD's :paranoid:

Bu the thing that makes me think twice about buying a game with ads in it is the fact that they only make money because people buy the game, and in turn create a market for the advertisements. If they do not buy the game, then there is no marked for the advertisements. Thats what bothers me, its like I'm being exploited and suckered.

Product placement for those shows don't make any visual sense so it's hard to toss in a Pepsi product placement while keeping it subtle. But what if they made another season of Battlestar Galactica with one or two subtle product placements tossed in. Would you still watch it/buy the DVD's, or would you boycott that too?

For most people, if you enjoy it and the ads don't overwhelm you or change your sense of immersion or affect the way you enjoy it, then I would think that it wouldn't be a big deal.

Good question, that would seriously depend of the type of placement, and how disruptive it is.
The fact that it's there would most likely signal lower overall quality of the show, witch in turn would not make it good enough to continue to watch.

It's also not a good idea to compare film with games, as film traditionally had advertisement, and traditionally games did not.
Therefore they differ in how they receive revenue. And thats the source of resistance of in game adds.

Now speaking of dealership ads on cars. When I bought my car I specifically looked for a dealership that didn't brand my car with their ugly logos.
And asked them to remove their "costume" license plate frames.
Now if Ontario would only make a revision to the law, like other provinces / states are doing, where we don't need a front plate. Cars would look so much better.

Its being released for 360 and FailStation 3.
I was under the impression the 360 version won't be released until later and that right now it's just on pc.

i'm not getting it. not so much because it sucks, but because i simply don't have the time or interest to invest in a PC FPS. as much as a i hate to admit i've become more of a casual gamer over the years. that means i'm playing more and more console games. the online offerings that consoles have now are more than enough to win me over and the future only looks better. don't get me wrong, i fucking hate playing a FPS using a controller and shitty FOV, but at the same time everyone is stuck with the same shitty config so i'm not the only one waiting five minutes to turn after running past an enemy too fast.

i miss the hardcore competitive days of q3 and q3:ta but i'm not in high school anymore. i only have the occasional friday and saturday to play games with friends and a console is perfect for that.
