Sega Rally Revo is also coming out, and it looks awesome. Was never into PGR for the reason tnf likes it so much.

Probably pick up Sega Rally Evo, PGR4, NFS Pro Street (maybe). Waiting for Assassins Creed. Might also get NHL 08.

PGR4 FTW

TNF - I Will be racing you sir

Re: PGR4
pretty good thus far but I've just played a bit. Reviews say motorcycles are a bit overpowered...haven't checked but I hope there are ways to limit races online to cars or bikes only as well as having both of them.
oh, and new geometry wars in the garage.

Re: PGR4
Too much stuff to tweak in Forza for my taste. If I knew more about that stuff I'm sure I'd be crazy for all of it, but I like games where the contest is purely about your skill as a driver, not also about your skill as a tuner. Can't deny that Forza 2 is a fantastic game on its own merits though.
Re: PGR4
Yeah that's about the only aspect of forza 2 that keeps me from playing the game 24/7... I'd prefer it if tuning cars was easier. I don't know how to do it either I usualy wind up copying other peoples setups with minor tweaks. but I like just racing for fun too. I think that's why I like games like Burnout a lot.tnf wrote:Too much stuff to tweak in Forza for my taste. Are you saying Forza doesn't take skill to play?tnf wrote:Too much stuff to tweak in Forza for my taste. Seems you may have missed the word also in there. As in, "arcade racer takes driving skill, racer with persistent rewards/character/cars takes driving skill and also time and skill to set up.
It's basically a question of how much time and effort you want to invest. Arcade racers are fast and fun. The others are fun for people who put in the time to reap the rewards. Same with lots of games, not just racers.

Wow, all that to point out the word also. Check out the big brain on Brad.creep wrote:Seems you may have missed the word also in there. As in, "arcade racer takes driving skill, racer with persistent rewards/character/cars takes driving skill and also time and skill to set up.

Re: PGR4
Umm... I was just adding my thoughts on your inevitable confoundedness over the thought that some games are different than others and that the one you love so much maybe not be the preferred game of others.
However, I can see you're just another bitter asshole with a chip on his shoulder, reading what he wants, and not understanding anything written by anyone with more than a 3rd grade education...
So I'll just leave you alone.

Its along the same lines as to why I don't care for MMO's too much.
But it looks like creep explained it pretty well.
Re: PGR4
Why the hell they changed the kudos system is all I want to know. No more stringing together combos for the normal multiplyers...there are still bonuses for stringing moves together, but now its this odd 'star' system where instead of multipliers you get 'stars' and you can't see a queue of your last few moves on the screen. why do developers always have to try and fix that which isn't broken in a game??? Still enjoying it though.
And the new Geometry wars is meh at best.

Re: PGR4
problem with arcade racers is that the only one i've ever found which requires driving skill was the F355 challenge arcade game (the console port was crap). Usually arcade racers don't offer tuning options because the driving model has been nerfed past the point of benefit from tuning.tnf wrote:Too much stuff to tweak in Forza for my taste. While i can't speak for forza, i know your above statement is the exact reason that Gran Turismo games came with an 'arcade mode'; which didn't compromise the driving model, just simplified car setup.
Re: PGR4
It's less complicated than that.
It's "I would like to start the game and run around trying not to crash into stuff, while still having a chance to win"
vs
"I will spend 1 hour tuning/practicing so I can run around for 3 hours trying not to crash into stuff and have a chance to win".
It's simply a matter of how much customization you want.
I, for one, prefer games where everyone who enters the game is equal, and any outcome is based solely on what I do right then, in that game.

Re: PGR4
so you only play games once then dump them after that initial expectation of equality is tainted?creep wrote: I, for one, prefer games where everyone who enters the game is equal, and any outcome is based solely on what I do right then, in that game.

look, if you don't like the systems ther's no need for you in this topic.Dr_Watson wrote:so you only play games once then dump them after that initial expectation of equality is tainted?creep wrote: I, for one, prefer games where everyone who enters the game is equal, and any outcome is based solely on what I do right then, in that game.
Re: PGR4
I have to admit, if I had the spare cash to just throw about I would be playing PG4. But I just wasnt that good at PGR3. Every time I thought I was getting better, I would hit a wall slightly, knock 0.003 seconds off, and drop 200 places
But it did have some fucking nice visuals
Burnout will be the nexxt racer I'll buy, thats for sure. They better not have fucked about with that as much as I think they have...
