New Fall Pictures

Post by Denz »

I shot this with my new Nikon D80 with a 18-135 Lens this morning.

[lvlshot]http://docdesign.org/upload/DSC_0312.JPG[/lvlshot]

Just in case anyone want it, I uploaded the full picture. I know it's large but it's nice to have the larger version of the picture so you can get all of the detail.

Hey, I'm learning. I had no idea that we had so many professional photographers in here. I have a few more I can post, but I won't upload the larger pictures.

Maybe there will be one picture in here that perhaps one person may like a little bit. :p

So wabbit liked the second one! woop!. Cool thanks guys!!

I think I know what the others were talking about the "Composition" (Maybe because all of the color changes are only on one side and the bottom of the picture and not equal?) I'm really taking a guess here. Perhaps the second picture (first on the second post) is more like what is supposed to be seen? Some of you guys that know this shit give me some pointers.

I know what else screwed me up big time and I will know this for next time. It was Noon when I took these pictures so the light was directly above me. Hard to get any contrast when you have light coming directly from above.

Here's a guide that might be helpful http://www.anandtech.com/digitalcameras ... i=2280&p=2
Many people routinely compose photos with the main subject in the middle of the image. This approach produces a lot of photos that look rather static as if they were studio portraits. You can often produce a more interesting image by placing the main subject somewhere other than the center of the image. All easy way to keep this in mind is to use "the rule of thirds." Imagine the scene in your viewfinder is divided into thirds both horizontally and vertically. To visualize this, pretend that a tic-tac-toe grid has been superimposed on the scene. Now compose the image so that the main subject of the photo is located approximately at one of the intersections of these imaginary "thirds" lines.

For instance, if a tree is the main subject of your photo, you might compose the image so that the tree is one-third of the way up from the bottom of the image and one-third of the way across from the left side of the image. You may also want to place prominent horizontal or vertical lines-such as the horizon or a large tree trunk - approximately one-third of the way from one of the four edges of the image. The objective of this rule is to diversity your compositions by consciously positioning your photo subjects away from the center.
Hope it helps explain a little better.

Thanks man.

According to that artical that tree shouldn't be in the center, although the bench/table is not. I guess that would be ok then since they are placed so close together.

I will get this someday. I don't think I can learn the art of Photograhy in one day or even in this thread. One lesson at a time I guess.

Do you shoot in RAW mode? It really helps when you come to adjust the photos.

Great nostalgia to me. Reminds me of my country place where I used to stay every summer but I haven’t gone to for 10 years.
Where is it? And is that snow on the 6th one, this one?

All of these pictures are about 5 mins from my house. I live on the base of this mountain so I just run up the canyon and start shooting.
Yes there is snow on the ground at this level. A couple of weeks ago the snow was on my lawn. All that has gone now but expecting some more soon.

Naww that is Middle Canyon. You go to Vine street and that takes you to Middle Canyon Rd. just keep going until you start seeing all the pretty colors.

I don't belong to the UTE r/c Club but I do have my AMA Insurance. Where is this new spot at? I didn't hear anything about it. I will ask my flying buddies I'm sure they will know.
