Two chapters into Ep2... and it's by far some of the best gaming I've done in a long time. The antlion den has some great sequences, and once you get into the forest, you really do begin to appreciate the power of the Source engine.
Loving every minute of it.

Anyone know, if I give HL2/Ep1 to someone as a gift, is there any point to giving him the actual discs associated with it? From reading the FAQ, he'll be able to accept my gifts and start downloading the game, but would he also ever be able to install the game(s) off the discs instead? Slow internet and everything...
what lies beyond...

Hmm. I can understand why episode 2 runs a bit shitly on my laptop, but the frame rate for prtal is pretty poor too and it's really no all that special to look at (I was able to run episode 1 at 1440x900 without any hitches). Bit disappointing.

Picked it up today. This definitely isn't one of those droughts in terms of good games coming out for the 360.

Forgot how good HL2 sp campaign was. Never played the additional episodes so I'll be looking forward to seeing how those progress the story (if they do). I do recall that the ending of HL2 was real shitty. do the additional episodes pick the story up right where the original HL2 leaves off?

Anyone tried portal yet?

This game really seems to out-do halo3 in a whole bunch of ways.

Quite literary. Right from where HL2 stops.

Just finished Portal, what a freaking amazing game. It is the first puzzle game that I didn't get stuck in and give up, it was so fun. I loved the thing right before the ending, you know with the round things, whatever they are, because the voice sure doesn't.... :D :D

I love the cake thing, BRILLIANT ! :ninja:

I love it wow what a good game, I'm looking forward to Portal 2, as mentioned in the commentary.

Short, but sweet.
I just hope they get their shit together and release the mod tools for it as soon as possible.
I'm also intrigued as to how the portal gun will work in the outside world.

They could have spent an extra month making some more puzzles. The actual level design process of the game really couldn't have taken more than a few months with the first 16 or so throw away levels that you had. It's not like they spent a ton of time on brush and texture work...

Dunno, it's cool but they'd have had to seriously mix stuff up beyond that point, I was enjoying myself to the end but probably would have got pretty bored had it gone on much longer.
