They can be expensive but you can pick up a used kit on keh for about 700 bucks that will beat any digital slr.

I don't think my skills warrant such a godly camera. It is nice to know that they're out there so cheap, though. Maybe in the future :)

Renaissance outing with the borrowed 70-300 IS USM. For the first time I'm actually impressed with this lens.
No crops or special editing. Only tossed 8 out of 176 due to cloudiness and high shutter speeds and a couple to set up from histogram.

The dog and the old guy is a little bit soft, it was my fault for the click on and focus as fast as possible. I should probably process them to make them better, crop crap out, but I'm to lazy tonight. Was a fun day.

Is that guy in the 4th pic from the top wearing a dress? Looks like a bearded woman wearing a tiara made of leaves with a white dress.

What actually goes on at a renaissance fair like that?

That first guy + poodle + pink leash + hat + standing near HIM shirt = h0mosexual.

@Dave and his Holga shot: I love the shot IN the Holga (the grass and dirt), but don't like the inclusion of the camera. Do you have the photo just by itself?

@tnf: Don't know what it's like at ForM's festivals, but it's usually just like an arts/crafts sort of thing. There are a lot of stands where people sell their artwork, lots of food, comdey/juggling/magic acts, craft demonstrations (blowing glass, making paper), and games.
It's a lot like a county or state fair, and the only thing that makes it "Renaissance" is the actors in costume and the theme of some of the games and shows (jousting, crossbow-shooting, throwing rotten tomatoes at people in the stocks, etc). Usually there's more "regulars" than costumed people. At least at the one here.

lol, Renfests. Great turkey legs and beer, but I always get the urge to call in an airstrike on the place to silence all the dipshit LARPers.

I love when you see anime cosplayers there. wtf? Do they not understand what the renaissance was? :dork:

Anyway... yeah. Great food and beer. I discovered that mead tastes terrible, but dark mead is pretty good (tastes like a Belgian ale).

That's not a Holga, that's Hasselblad. It's like a Holga only sharp and several times more expensive :p

The teenage fucktards wearing huge cloth boots and samurai swords are the ones that really crack me up.

Whoops. Yeah. I meant the 'blad, but I had Holga in my mind when I wrote that. Probably from reading your earlier post. :o
Anyway, do you have a copy of that shot? I'd like to see it w/o the camera and your legs. :smirk:
