Curveball

Post by Ryoki »

Jesus christ, it's like a bad remake of Dr. Strangelove based in reality... :icon19:

Some snippets:

"According to a US presidential commission looking into pre-war intelligence failures, the basis for pivotal intelligence on Iraq's alleged biological weapons programmes and fleet of mobile labs was a spy described as 'crazy' by his intelligence handlers and a 'congenital liar' by his friends."

and my favourite bit:

"The commission concluded that Curveball's information was worse than none at all. "

Well... It's a pretty stupid fucking choice isn't it? Or maybe it wasn't. It just seems to read like something out of a dick tracy flick.

Makes perfect sense.

Don't fool yourselves. The U.S. wasn't taken in. The entire case for war was manufactured (poorly).

It's unfortunate that the public is so trusting when it comes to such important issues.

aye - are the current administration imbeciles, liars, despots or all of the above? ultimately they're never going to be slowly decapitated, which is the only acceptable end to this situation.

things are the same over here, blaming shitty intelligence and absolving the government of guilt. sometimes i wish i could be arsed to record the news, just so that at times like this i could watch the playback of george tenet saying words to the effect of "this is bullshit, and i'm going to end up carrying the can for it" or that MI5 guy interviewed on london bridge complaining that the intelligence they were actually providing (and which he obviously couldn't reveal) was being completely ignored in favour of a highly publicised report someone had cooked up based on an old college essay.
