And of course, GH3 is perfectly legit if all you want is more songs, and don't have a 360.

Also. the custom song making isn't nearly as good as the real songs in the game. Yes, the developers are pretty bad at picking good music for the game, but playing the custom songs just isn't as fun.

edit: @ andyman... I think most of the tracks that are slated for the final version are still covers.

Eh... I'm not surprised. I was basing that statement on something I had read a while ago. I haven't been following GH3 too closely.

I retract my statement citing lack of evidence. :)

I actually thought the covers in GH 1 & 2 were really well done, barring a few exceptions (Rage Against the Machine, anyone?). There were a few songs that I would have sworn were master tracks if I didn't have Wikipedia to tell me otherwise. That being said, having so many master tracks this time around is definitely a step in the right direction.

Indeed. That was the song I was most looking forward to, and they slaughtered it. Luckily, this is a case where custom songs come in handy. The studio track fits perfectly with their notechart. Just replace their track with an mp3 of Killing In the Name, and you're golden.

Only if you can be bothered to jump through all the other hoops to get custom songs on there in the first place, of course. ;)

My copy is on pre-order so I think I'll just wait. I still need to play the Jericho demo and the Hellgate demo and beat Eternal Sonata...

Yea, that vid gave me a chubby.

A good bit of that song looks harder on the game than it is on real guitar. And it's not that easy on guitar.

Guys, listen to o'dium, the game is very similar to GH2.

It's just as fun with brand new songs, net play, availability on every console, and many, many more features.

Isn't Odium saying not to get GH3?

It's never a good idea to listen to Odium.

I'm being slightly sarcastic.

The point is, if you like GH2, you are going to love GH3.

I also like that he's suggesting GH3 is "the same old thing" but Rock Band (a combination of GH, Karaoke Revolution, and Rhythm Sticks) is somehow "new/fresh/sexy"

Meh. I'll have them both, eventually.

Beast and The Harlot was stupid in GH2... it sounded like a dying dog was singing.

Is Eternal Sonata any good? I played the demo from XBL and thought it looked good and had promise, but was put off by the kiddie nature of it. Why can't the Japanese make RPGs with 30-year-old protagonists? :(

There's another reason I don't like modded custom tracks that I didn't think of earlier: you can't strip each layer to get the guitars by themselves. There's no way to mute the guitar when you miss a note or something.

well cuz then they couldn't fullfill their weird underage fetish. i'm sure somewhere in the game there's a part where a giant tenticle takes a shit on the heroine.

did you guys remove the starpower moves or is that just in the demo?
because that just plain sucks, animation looks very stale as it is now

Who cares what the characters look like? I just follow the notes, even when I watch someone else play. The stage is so divorced from the fretboard that I still find things I didn't notice in GH2... :)

i do. a game is partly about presentation, and to see the characters actually playing the song and doing different rockreferences is half the fun.

otherwise they could just give me a black screen with notes on it.

having to look at the notes all the time means youre a noob anyways :owned:

I'd be just as happy with a black screen, but I see your point.

I admit it's cool that the characters pretty much play the songs and I was impressed with the lip synching done this time around, but I only notice that stuff in the beginning of songs before the fretboard drops down. Or if I'm watching Fury's girlfriend play on Medium.
