Windows Live
Windows Live
I have some Windows live contact files from a computer that a reinstall was done on. Is there any way to save or recover them? I foiund one site that claimed it coudl save them but wanted me to join for $30.00.
Re: Windows Live
Your contact list? Isn't that stored on Microsoft's servers? All you need is your login name and password.
If you're looking for the log files, shared files, they should be sitting somewhere in your My Documents folder.

There are a bunch of things like this and they are hidden files.

Re: Windows Live
Right yeah, but if you re-sign into messenger with the same account information, all your contacts will be loaded back on from the server anyway.
So you shouldn't need to use those files at all.

Hmm, that wasn't the case for me. I had to plug in my old IDE HDD and copy-paste a whole bunch of folders from Documents and Settings
Application Data to finally get my contacts and settings back. Otherwise my list would be empty and the "add contact" button wouldn't work :S

Re: Windows Live
I've never had any problem with a clean install of my OS and windows live. It automatically loads all my contacts.

i got an error this install saying that my list was un-availible.
Tried once or twice more and bam, loaded up no problems.

Re: Windows Live
Those are probably a cache of stuff like your contact's buddy icons and other stuff. Those will get reloaded again. I've never had problems accessing contacts from several different computers with WLM, Pidgin or Adium.corpse wrote:7c732894-a89d-4eb7-870a-34c26118a884.WindowsLiveContact
