i bought an 8800gt anyways. soapboy said he would lick my balls if i did.
going to try and switch over from my x1950 pro without re-installing the OS. i have a copy of drivercleaner at hand and am going to take a thorough look for leftover ati software before hand.
any other suggestions to make this a seamless transition?

I think you can go into msconfig and have it load up the default video card drivers.
Then uninstall your video card drivers and install the new ones, etc.

Any of the newer ATI Drivers have there own Cleaner built in when you remove the drivers..
use Drive cleaner after that, and you will be fine.
