Alright, so I'm trying to get that $700 gaming rig started. However, I found out that ebay might be a really good alternative. Although I have never used ebay, I really feel like I'd be saving insane amoutns of money through it. I dont have a credit card (too young still) so I'd have to use my dads. He doesn't want me using his credit card, as that can attract debt, etc. So, with paypal, I can use a bank account right? Does this eliminate the possibility of debt? If thats a pro, then whats the cons?
Some dude was selling 2x 2GB Gskill DDR2 PC6400 Ram for 50 dollars. Unfortunatly I had to attend a family thing for thanksgiving so I was unable to figure out paypal/ebay and bid on it. If these kind of sale continue, I could theoretically lower $700 into about $500, maybe even afford a monitor. However, I feel a catch coming on. So fill me in, thanks.

Re: Ebay
The thing with e3bay is, there's 2 kinds of sellers.
Seller1: The retailer: He sells X item for Y dollars. He tries to up his volume by selling X item for Y-1 on ebay. This isn't a deal, as the bay gets him out of all resonsibility as a retailer. If the part is DOA you lose.
Seller2: 'I bought some crap and I don't want it'. I don't think I really need to say more here.
It's ebay for a reason, folks.

Eh.. I think I'll be ebaying the some cheap stuff first, just to see what happens.
On an unrelated note, I cannot find a cheap Geforce 8800GT (IN STOCK) if my life depended on it.

Re: Ebay
When i built the $1500 rig I'm using now, I bought my powersupply off of e-bay... Which blew up the second time I turned my computer on.
I highly suggest newegg (and compare newegg's prices with tiger direct.) It's your rig, don't cheap out too much :\
Neweggs has some nice deals going on this weekend so I would check it out now.

Re: Ebay
eBay isn't a good place to spend big money if you're not experienced with it. Stick to the online retailers.
eBay used to be a place to catch good bargains, but with growth has come an averaging trend where the prices are generally only a bit better than retail, and of course without warranties etc.
