Audio Problem

Post by Kills On Site »

I have an ABit IP35 Pro and I use the onboard sound which is Realtek HD Audio. Today the sound stopped working so i restarted and the Realtek app that is in the taskbar and the sound icon are both gone. I uninstall and reinstall the drivers for the audio, but nothing changes. Control Panel says no audio devices found. This is extremely random and the only thing I was really doing prior to this malfunction was playing this flash game called Clear Vision II, that is the last thing that had any sound to it. Anyone know anything I can do?

Uninstall the driver and reboot. Windows should detect that you have new hardware and ask you to install the driver. If it fails to do so, it *may* be a hardware issue.

With no drivers installed Windows finds nothing new, nothing out of the ordinary in the Device Manager. I'm thinking I'm going to RMA the motherboard over Christmas break. Anyone got any other ideas to try and solve this?

The only peculiar thing is that your taskbar icons are disappearing. That sounds more like something wrong with software, though if device manager can't detect it...

With no audio hardware, windows does not load the mixer. 3rd party mixers (the "software" that comes with your audio hardware) are just an extension over the windows mixer, so they don't load either.
