My earbuds

Post by JooKed »

My earbuds aren't working very well. I just got them with the Zune, and they're failing on me. I've had the Zune for like 2 weeks, and the stock earbuds are actually pretty good. However, today when I turned the device on, the music would play, but without low tones. Its hard to explain. The bass will play, but then I cant hear the voice unless I turn it up to level 20 (which is brain peircing if working correctly). Other songs will just have no beat at all, where you might not hear a single instrument.

Now, the wires are perfectly fine. There is a TINY, VERY tiny tear in the plastic covering of the wire so I can see a very small bit of copper-like wire. However, I can't see how that'd be a problem. I put the earbuds in my computer and I got the same results.

One small solution (although really homo) is where I can put the earbud jack into the Zune device about 1/4 or 2/4 in and it'll play the song perfectly, but if I put the whole jack in like its supposed to be, the sound will just cut off and become terrible. The input jack looks exactly like another pair of working headphones, if anything, they're in better condition.

Anyways... Is there any solution, or should I just get some of those sound-canceling earbuds I hear so much about..

I couldnt resist the $89 price tag.

I was hoping for a quick fix, as I would have to wait a couple days before buying new ones. I mean, the buds are good quality, and they're in perfect condition...... somewhat. Oh well

What kind of quick fix were you expecting? They're $2 earbuds. Honestly...

Some dude sucked on his ear buds and the "bass response" returned. No, I'm not going to suck my dirty ass ear buds. Or possibly cutting and soddering a couple things. I have a golden head phone jack for some cheap headphones I dont use, and I was thinking of cutting that off and replacing the jack for my earbuds. I don't even know if that'll work then, and if it doesn't, I'll be out of another cheap set of listening devices.

Save yourself some headache, dig a dollar change out of your couch, and go to walmart.

Stock earbuds are never very good for sound quality. Build quality wise, all earbuds are prone to break considering how you use them.

When I bought my iPod, first thing I did was swap out the stock earbuds for a pair of Shures. Difference in sound quality is profound, but they're broken now (cable issue) and I'll have to send it in for warranty. They do have an excellent warranty and customer service program that you probably won't get with cheap stuff.

So you've only owned it for two weeks? If you don't want to pay for new ones, couldn't you just exchange them at the retailer?
