dvi resolution question...

New 24" monitor hooked up with dvi cable only, doesn't seem to provide all the resolution options that analog did. I use the monitor's native resolution for windows, however some games I would like a lower widescreen resolution for. The options all seem to be for regular screen, not widescreen, until I get to the highest res., which is 1920x1200.
The next options in the display options are in order:
1600x1200
1600x900 widescreen
1280x1024
1280x960 widescreen
1152x864
1024x768
800x600

I was using 1440x900 for some games that wouldn't run fast enough at the highest resolution. Not sure why the resolution options changed. This is my first dvi monitor so sorry if I'm missing something simple.

The 1600x900 and 1280x960, the only other two widescreen options no longer show up in game as options like they did before along with 1440x900 in analog. 1920x1200 shows up and then it's only standard resolution options avaliable in game, q4, UT, etc.

This is definately a quality problem and I absolutely love the new monitor, Samsung SyncMaster 245bw so I know, poor me )

Graphics card is Nvidia Geforce 7900gs

Is it just different with dvi, or am I missing something.
