Building a PC - suggestions

Post by corncobman »

I'm going to be building a PC and I'm looking to spend at most around 750 pounds sterling (I'm in the UK)

Suggestions for

motherboard
graphics card
sound card
case

are welcome

What's it for?

Quad core Q6600, 4Gb ram, one of the 8800s should be about right for most.

any of you guys run/know anyone running 8 gigs? for less than a $100 i could pick up another 2x2gb sticks.

future proof?

to the poster. get a copy of vista 64. it runs extremely snappy with q6600+4gigs.

No, I considered 8Gb myself but the 1Gb sticks were significantly cheaper and I maxed out my board's slots at 4Gb ;(

The downside being when I do want to hop up to 8, I'll have to rebuy.

BTW I'll second the Vista x64 recommendation.... it's cheap on OEM and runs everything fine.
