BFG + LIGHTENING GUN, HOW DO THEY DO IT!!!

So u guys prob'ly hve figured out im from India(hvn't u?)Who cares anyway!!

I've been playing q3 4 THREE years but still play like im a stupid n00b .I hve noticed dat the more exprienced players use a technique in q3ctf4 to get to da other base(in d excessive plus mods).They fire the bfg at their base, and then using the lightening gun,propel themselves in mid space,take d flag and repeat the above steps.
I try to do it,sumtimes i dont even get off d ground or sometimes i fall in d void.

So i was kinda wondering if anyone cud tell me how 2 do it.
And I read dat interesting q3 guide by Doomer.I tried that rocket jump, but cudn't do that either(u see how pathetic im)I can mange a jump of only around 5 feet(LOL).

well first keep practicing the rocketjump. f you get that down, you can use pretty much any weapon with splash damage to jump/climb.

I doubt u can learn plasma climbing with rocket launcher tbh Anyway I still agree, practise makes perfect.

Well, I think MKJ is right insofar that if you don't know how to do a RJ, you sure as hell won't be able to pull off a decent plasma climb.

I think he's talking about the grappling hook which sometimes looks like lightning (it does in VQ3).

You need to bind a key to +button3 or something to use the grappling hook.

The grapling hook can't propel a player in mid space(The experienced ones aim the lightening in space and if they have a grapling hook they aim it at the base not in mid space)

They can if they hit the invisible edge of the map.

Don't they simply shoot the grappling hook in the floor?

you need to aim the bfg into a corner, and then ride the wall with the lg at a correct angel which is the same angle as for plasma climbs... google genesis the begining of, you will se there what the right angle is

eraser haven't u played excessive q3.All d guns(except gauntlet, machinegun,shotgun)hve splash damage(atleast in the multiplayer servers they do)


And yeah there's another problem creeping up(if u 've played on 200+ ping servers u'll understand more clearly):
Due to time lag and high pings, its hard to aim d lightening gun.
If ur shooting it and suddenly change direction it'll still be shooting in the previous direction n slowly cum to the new direction.Just like ur holding a string attached to a heavy ball and u jerk it towards another direction.

Anyway,Ive learnt the bfg jump in q3ctf4 and it wuouldn't hve been possible without ur help.Still need more practice on RJs though.
