Assuming you have all the latest drivers for your hardware (chipset, video card, etc.) try the following:

- Increase the priority for quake3.exe via the task manager (ctrl+alt+del > Processes Tab > Right-click on quake3.exe > Set priority > Select High or Realtime)

- Do this: http://img529.imageshack.us/img529/9951/q3os6.jpg

ok after some days, i tried what you said and its still skippy but happen less often.
and im happy , my friend bought same computer as me and he have same problem.
so i see im not alone to have that problem :)

but not sure if the probleme is Intel Dual Core or 8600 GT.

i suspect hardly the dual core.

i just called a seller on phone and he said to come here ask if Quake3 is too small so it may just run on 1 cpu only and that could make the skippy problem happen!
how to know if Quake3 run only on 1 cpu and if the problem happen , is there a way to force it to run on both cpu? ty

Well, good luck because I can't help you much further.

Patches are issues to correct problems. If you won't apply the patches, it's not surprising you're running into problems.

/r_smp 0 followed by a /vid_restart

Not sure if 1.16n has SMP support anyway.

Yah I think Q3 "supports" SMP out of the box. I think it was never stable though.

Sorry, I meant to write 1. You might want to set r_finish to 1 also.
