It's a free newspaper in tabloid format - revenue comes from adds. It's taken Europe by storm because lots of people use public transportation to get to work here, or at least enough to make this work... it's nice to read something in the train or bus or whatever.

Also, i think they pretty much literally copy and paste stories that roll of the newsfeed to save costs. Which means content wise it's all yesterday's news all the time if you use the internets as your source of news.
