Embarrassing albums you secretly like....
Embarrassing albums you secretly like....
I'll go first:
- Tubular Bells. Yes it's excruciating in places, but I grew up with it on the whole time so I can't help liking it.
- The Singles by Feeder. Feeder are the definition of a 3-and-a-half star band, but for some reason a couple of their singles just stick in my head
I'm sure I can think of some more...

"just the way i'm feeling" is a good song me thinks.
ok, off the top of my head:
Michael Jackson - Bad (awesome production, especially compared to the compressed rubbish being churned out)
most of Duran Duran's stuff. dunno though, i'm not embarassed to tell people i like that stuff, but i certainly wouldn't be seen rollin', with the windows down, and cranked.

I've got a soft spot for a lot of Eagles tracks, Hotel California in particular as it takes me back to backpacking holidays in Europe in the early eighties.

It's seen as music for old folks over here, as well as being confused for Country & Western by a lot of misguided younger UK residents.+JuggerNaut+ wrote:wtf? who's embarrassed listening to them?

the eagles own. no shame nigga
Re: Embarrassing albums you secretly like....
I'm partial to songs by The Cranberries, Counting Crows, Sixpence, Four Seasons, and other bands from the early to mid-90s. Plus a bunch of oldies from the 80s by bands like Tears for Fears, The Cars, and Blondie. My mother used to listen to an 80s and 90s radio station at home and that kind of music was all I heard.
It's nostalgic for me, and I love all of it more than I probably should.

I'm not embarrassed at all to say this is easily the best album I've heard in years.
I guess my embarrassing album would be Paramore. :/
Re: Embarrassing albums you secretly like....
I've been doing security at a dance club/bar on weekends lately....and I'm starting to like that
Justin Timberlake music that they play. I'm not saying I'm gonna buy the album....but I am embarrassed to say that I'm starting to like it.
I'm also a sucker for that Christine Aguilera song "Beautiful".

Re: Embarrassing albums you secretly like....
Not too much to be embarrassed about in this thread. Michael Jackson, Cash, Counting Crows... all good. (although Thriller is where it's at).
Now Timberlake and Aguilera. Those ARE embarrassing.
As for myself... hmmm...
If it's an album I LIKE, I'm probably not embarrassed about it and have no qualms listening to it in public. But I'm sure there are a lot that people would laugh at me for. Dylan, John Denver, Live (post-2000), Woody Guthrie, Bizet (Bernstein), Bing Crosby, The Wailin' Jennys, etc...
Probably the closest thing to embarrassment is Bone Thugs N Harmony and maybe Candlebox. I also have GnR's Spaghetti Incident, but I don't like it, nor do I listen to it, so it doesn't count.

Re: Embarrassing albums you secretly like....
I actually quite like both of Evanescence's albums.
Also, The Sounds. Most people seem to think they're just cheap teenage punk-disco cash-ins but they are actually really good songwriters, and Maja has enough punch and character in her voice to put the band a few notches above most other bands in the genre.
