Sony stop making Triniton CRTs
http://www.engadget.com/2008/03/03/sony ... -crt-sets/
http://www.slashgear.com/sayonara-and-f ... 310553.php
Sony already ended the production of CRTs in Japan around 2004 but continued to manufacture CRT TVs under the Trinitron brand at plants in Southeast Asia to meet limited demand in Latin America and parts of Asia. Since its introduction in 1968 Sony has shipped 280 million units including TV and Monitor tubes. The history and technology will end by the end of this month and the company will give its full attention on LCD and OLED flat panels.
Good thing OLED is coming along. (If it wasn't for OLED this would be a great shame, cause LCD and plasma are inferior to CRT.)

My 32" Trinitron TV blew up just before Christmas, it was a great TV with a better picture than my HD LCD for normal TV. I've still not replaced it thinking about it.

I'm not seeing cheap CRT sets in general. My daughter's TV shit the bed not long ago and I priced new ones...fuck that, she can read more.

I had a 19" Trinitron CRT back in the day, that motherfucker was huge. Then 5 years ago or so I went LCD, and I've never looked back. Good riddance.
