OpenArena Server :)

Post by turkey123 »

I think I have it pretty well set-up. Be sure the follow the instructions steps 1 through 4:

http://www.escapedturkey.com/openarena/

The advantages are its 100% free, plays like Quake 3, and has url redirect for fast downloads of mod and map files. It uses the ioquake3 engine -- which includes lots of bug fixes and even plays smoother than regular Quake 3.

Thank you. :)

P.S. Can't seem to remember the e-mail address for my old username on this board.

It's definitely a hidden gem. Since it is open source, people can keep it alive and contribute to it forever.

If you need any help, please let me know in this thread. :)

I'm going to have my son download it so we can both play online. In the command line, if he replaces your servers IP with mine, will there be any problem with his computer hooking into mine? It may sound like a dumb question, but I'm nearly illiterate when it comes to computers. I can do stuff on them, but I have no idea what oges on to make em do what they do. I'm learning though. I know enough to know that some things work on your game. Like my favorite skin.

Also, can you point me towards somewhere where I can learn to apply the Qname and Qtool? Thanks again.

Should be fine aslong as you are behind a router.

Are you referring to a browser and making name colors?

Actually...only the name color.

edit: I use Qtracker. It works great and has the OpenArena as well.

It should follow the same color naming scheme as Quake 3.

This may help:

Avirox, who is also the guy who took over the Quake 4 Fortress Xtreme project, is going to do this. Also rumors of another member doing this on the XReaL engine also, but not decided yet.

We are waiting for RR2 to release the Q3F Source Code. The staff is already to go! Not sure if these games will have independent sites or just have all the info on TeamFortressXtreme.com because it's really up to the project leader.
