A lot of people would say it's a bad idea, on your first day out of prison, to go right back to stalking the tranny hooker that knocked out five of your teeth. But that's how I roll..
On a related note, why is it that I can't import a bookmarks file to a new FF install that I exported from an old FF install? New OS, new FF, when I select Import it just asks if I want to import from IE! I tried placing said bookmarks file in the correct location (delete and rename, etc.) and it simply over-wrote it.
Whenever I do a re-install, or move to a new comp, I just drop my old bookmark.html file on my desktop. I open them from there then re-add one at a time. I tend to build up some clutter, so this helps get rid of it.

Maybe for some weird reason your firefox user profile changed. Close firefox if it's open, and go to start> run > type "firefox.exe -ProfileManager" and choose a different profile.
i recommend FEBE (Firefox Environment Backup Extension) https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/2109 you can backup all your extensions/themes/bookmarks/settings/etc and have automatically create backups at scheduled intervals
