The law needs some balls

I don't think the Law can do much else. If the fools who did this particular crime thought there was a chance at instant retribution or counter attack, they wouldn't have done it. That's yer coward mentality there. Most violent criminals are either reacting to a situation, or are cowards looking fer an easy mark. Obviously, if there was a "gang" of attackers against one guy and one girl, they were cowards. A bully doesn't walk into Dodge City and shoot up the saloon. He knows the odds are against his survival. That's why you hear about fools going into churches and shooting up people, rather than going into a biker bar or police station. I've raised my kids to not be sheep. We need a few more smackdowns on cowards like this.

well, leaving aside that "society", while it exists, is not some kind of reified or unitary entity capable of person-like intentionality that can actually be "on the hook" in the first place in any meaningful moral sense, i have noticed that people getting stamped to death by pricks like these doesn't actually happen on every street corner, and that the overwhelming majority (and i do mean overwhelming) get along with each other pretty well, and that on any given day of the week the centre of any town or city in the UK is packed full of people who are mostly complete strangers to each other and yet for the most part are somehow able to complete their shopping trips without stabbing each other in the pancreas and stoving in each others skulls with nike airs while yelling "this is youtube material!"
