Question to the Pros at Photoshop in here…

I saw some great Photoshop works in here, some of you are really good at it, Pauly is for sure one of them.

( just for the purpose of explaining my idea, I put a pic of the most wonderful guy )

My question is---

-let’s say that I want to remove/erase the fence and the building behind me. I know I could erase everything by just using the erase and cut me out of it but this is a tough and tedious work.

1-Is there a way that I can select a point on the fence and then press- erase everything from this point behind.

2-Or another way would be- let’s say I am focussed at 10 feet, I select depth of field ( it should also be able to tell you, while hovering over your picture, which is the depth of field of everything ) Then you select- erase everything farther than 10 feet.

So, do these features already exist? If so, where can I get some tutorial for using them.

I used the paint program that comes with windows.... I wasn't exactly going for quality lol.

I think what' you're talking about requires layers.

Essentialy, you would need to use the lasso tool to highlight what you want in the background vs foreground then delete what you don't want.

OR you can just do it the lazy way and erase what you don't want. then paste in the background whatever background it is you want to see.

If you're looking for a 1 button solution it doesn't exist. It does take work, that's why people get paid to do graphic work.

So there are no features like the ones I mentionned?

My pic for the example is not a good example of what I meant for the work though.

Imagine/visualize that you have a nice pic of a bird on a branch, during winter at that when there is no leaf left on the tree. You want to keep the bird and the branches but there is a ugly fence and a building in the back of it that you don't want to see. You can lasso the bird well but what about if you want to keep every branches of the tree?

I'll send a pic of it tomorrow.

Weird coincidence, I've been using it since just a couple of days, I never heard about it before, untill the other day while studying tips for photography.
I did this "great work" using it.

This pic is more of what I meant, challenging if you want to save the branches and only remove the ugly fence and building behind the cute little bird and saving all the branches with their cherries.

Another problem with my pics...

It was taken showing the whole cat without missing a pawl. In my images album I can see it whole with even a few inches of snow in front of it's pawl but when I get the photo out of it there's always the pawl missing. I've tried to scale it down, I can't get the original one.

It's not because it is a great picture but just for the principle.
I remember having my photos developed at the corner drug store and I had a real great picture which on the negative was perfect but on the print, it missed a few inches at the bottom making it worthless.

maby you should center the shots, rather then having the focus low.

all of the pictures that you've posted the focus was in the bottom of the photo.

Thanks for the advice but how come It is showing all right in my images library and when I take this one out it shows completly different with a pawl missing?
