distance gauntlets

Post by MarquisdeSade »

I've seen them in a few quake movies (probably lyon connection, though i'm not totally sure). One example was when, in prodm6, a guy at the rail rolled his gauntlet and the enemy at the plasma got pummeled. I've tried it myself, but it didnt work (apart from seeming quite stupid)
How does this happen? Is it random or reproducible?

Like, a telepummel (where 'tele' stands for 'at a distance')?

Oh, I just checked, and I was wrong...it's in Get Quaked 2, not lyon connection. Get it from: http://www.own-age.com/vids/video.aspx?id=1460

Dunno what you mean? Can I hurt a guy who's at the other end of a teleporter? Anyway, prodm6 doesnt have any teles, so...

I've (on occasions) been able to pummel an opponent that wasn't even remotely close. Probably something to do with lag, a confused server or whatnot.

That's no ordinary Quake 3 "feature".
Could it be that they're playing the Headhunters mod? That mod has a weapon that shoots razor blades. Might be it if that's the case:shrug:

No, it was vanilla Q3. I think you're right to state it isn't a "feature"; it looked more like a bug at the time.

This was on pro-q3dm6. No teleporters, personal or otherwise.

I've seen it. It's a bug.
He does one in Marred2 as well. One player stands at RG whirring his gauntlet, and the other camps over quad near the PG and get's gaunted by the player at RG.
It's a cool bug though. ;)
