Can't connect to my own workgroup

Post by ToxicBug »

I can't connect to my own workgroup on my laptop anymore. The workgroup is called WTF, all the computers in the network are in this workgroup and they can connect to each other.

I did a virus scan with a trial version of Trend Micro virus scan and uninstalled the SecureW2 TTLS client. I also put the computer in the router's DMZ. The issue persists whether I use the wireless or Ethernet connection.

This issue seems to have started since I've installed the SecureW2 TTLS client from http://helpline.concordia.ca/network/wireless/ last Tuesday in order to connect to my university's wireless network. I'm not absolutely sure that this is what caused the problem, but everything was working fine a couple days ago.

Operating system: Windows XP Pro SP2
The other computers run Windows XP Pro SP2 and one runs Vista Home Premium.

System specs: Compaq Presario V2630 laptop
Linksys DI-524 router
Windows firewall is disabled, no other firewalls are installed.

Thanks in advance, guys! :)

Go to your network connection properties and untick everything except TCPIP, QoS, Client for MS Networks, and File & Print sharing.

Then reboot and try again.

Also leave the machine connected for 5 mins then try again, netbios election wossname sometimes takes a short while.

Them type of clients cans SOMETIMES wreck havoc on Winsock Stack in XP, which netbios hooks on to. If all else fails then try to rebuild it with this little proggy/script here

That didn't fix it. Still can't connect to the workgroup.
