My next car insurance quote

Post by Foo »

£1680

:olo:

I might still buy the car. Impending fuel shortages and being able to park it barely anywhere aside...

My van (which the timing belt has gone in and has subsiquently blown up and is sitting unused outside our house) was £1400 a year because of me writing off my car.

I don't think I'm going to bother getting a new vehicle. I'm enjoying commuting by bike & train and if work dries up I can fall back on somewhere I can walk to from the house. If I start working down south I may start thinking about buying another vechile. I certainly won't be paying more than a grand for it though. Either it'll be a £300 car or a £1000 Toyota Hilux with a decent engine/chassis and fucked bodywork which I can thrash around.

Mk3 Hilux with a Rover 3.5 conversion, 13" lift and 35" tyres.

I'm probably giving it a miss though, he's asking a lot for it and it's further than I really wanted to go with the whole idea - I'd rather do a 6" lift on 35s and leave the rover conversion in favour of the stock 3L. That'd be something I could still practicably drive.

When I was contacting different companies for quotes, one refused to insure my TT because "it's in the same category as a Ferrari."

yeah working for a company near wetherby at the moment. They're sending me to three different European countries in four days on thursday, then jetting me off to Tokyo for another two weeks. The work itself is too much like industrial factory work under the guise of being creative for my liking, I think I'd rather be doing and may well end up in theatre in the not too distant future.

Horsforth ey? my train stops in Horsforth (also: £10.10 for a 50 minute train journey? >:E). Are you still freelancing?

Kindof. I fell on my feet with this contract so I've got maybe 6 months left then I'll be scratching my head deciding what to do next. Not sure if I like Leeds - There seems to be an air of halfwittedness about the whole city which I've never seen anywhere else before.

Tokyo, you lucky git >:E

Yeah, you're stuck in the worst demographic. But, my bike goes 180mph, so this can only mean that insurance in the UK is nothing short of a massive rogering.

I'm about 1 month away from 25 so hopefully I get a break if I insure after then.

Its my own fault though, if I'm looking to drive what is basically a monster truck on UK roads - the outcome probably isn't going to be pretty.

You guys are getting owned or have some kind of amazing coverage. I'm paying $2000 usd a year (which is basically the same as canada now) for $500 deductible full coverage on my Z and my driving record is about as awful as you can get as far as speeding tickets go.
