Iron Man- 8/10
Good flick. Anybody that didn't know Obadiah Stain is the villain as soon as they were going to see an Iron Man movie needs to work on their comic geek kung-fu.

One cool thing was that the terrorist cell was called "The 10 Rings" which is an obvious hint to the fact that The Mandarin will be the villain in the next movie. This is awesome.

I hated how they decided to mold three villains into Obadiah though. It was pointless to make him Obadiah/Crimson Dynamo/Titanium Man. /endcomicbookgeekrant

Oh yes, Robert Downey Jr. is the most inspired casting in any comic book movie to date. I think Stark's screen time was even more enjoyable than the crazy action Ironman parts.

I agree, I think Downey Jr was perfectly cast, he fits so well to the part.

I didn't quite catch the Hulk film reference though thats supposed to be included in there? Anybody want to fill me in?

There wasn't supposed to be a Hulk film reference. Stark makes a cameo in The Hulk however. It's all about them trying to build a cohesive movie universe in anticipation for the Avengers movie they're making in 2010-2011. Apparently Fury will be making post-credits appearances in all the upcoming Avengers tie-in movies. Those being Captain America, Ant-Man, Hawkeye, Black Panther, and Thor.

ahh, thats it then. I thought there were Hulk/Iron man and Ironman/Hulk tie ins. I knew about the Avengers movie coming.

I have to say, Nick Fury really caught me off guard at the end.

House of Sand and Fog: 7/10. Nobody pulls off the whole "I'm vulnerable yet strong" dealio as well as Jennifer Connelly. Ben Kingsley's performance is first rate. The ending is suitably messy and got me a bit misty eyed ta boot.

Were there any references to the Extremis storyline in the Iron Man movie?

No, it was 100% an origin movie so it was all about the armor. No real biological stuff in it at all.

I am legend.

Actually quite fucking good, though ending was meh - will hunt around for alternative ending.

Anyone else catch the HUGE christian metaphor? (the huge cross at the end was a bit much though)

Shooter 4/10

It's like they said to each other 'We're not taking any chances on this one! Let's look at every scene from every action movie from the last 10 years, pick out the scenes that are in several of those movies and remake those scenes into a movie of our own'. Most cliched film i've seen in ages, everything was utterly predictable.

The Beast of War

Really good, it's too bad we never had a movie like this made about Vietnam.

All these positive reviews make me want to see The Beast of War because I had no idea how awful war is.

You have to take this as an action movie. As an action movie it's great, as a thriller its mediocre.

Fucking great action movie I think.

Iron Man - 8/10

Saw it Saturday after it came out. Awesome movie all the way through - even Gwyneth Paltrow managed to pull off the part. And Downey Jr. as Stark was the best choice anyone could have made. After the movie, one of the girls (who obviously never read the comics) said she didn't like him because he seemed too vulnerable for a superhero character, which I thought was a huge unintentional compliment.
Very well done, and the suits were not a let-down either, when I was afraid they might be.
