Mind if I steal smelly black coat for myself?

I dislike metal mostly because the whole goddamn genre seems to convey but one sentiment, and that is: life sucks raargh. There's no other feeling i get from metal, just that. I find it a shallow, immature genre and i hope lack of originality ends up killing it.
DB has a point with those bandnames too, they're all pretty much like that. My ex was a metal girl, she'd take me to a record store and i'd just spend my time laughing at the bandnames, because sweet jesus, almost none of them are possible to take serious...

I'd say you are right to some degree, but to make a sweeping generalization like that is kinda foolish. While there are metal bands that scream about immature bullshit, there are also definitely a lot more lyrical subjects than "life sucks raargh". I tend to stay away from the immature crap, good lyrics are as much a part of the music for me as the instruments. For the record, I can't even think of any metal that I listen to that involves "life sucks raargh" However I can think of metal that deals with universal human themes and emotions, just as much as any other genre. I think your ex was into some shitty subpar metal, sir.Ryoki wrote:I dislike metal mostly because the whole goddamn genre seems to convey but one sentiment, and that is: life sucks raargh.
