Post by bitWISE »

My mom sends me a message on MSN about gas being $4.45 so I did a quick google search to figure out wtf was going on and it turns out: http://www.newarkadvocate.com/apps/pbcs ... 8805130303

My brother said he heard the gas station in Rockefeller Center were charing $10.00/gallon because it's the only one around there or something... I can't find anything to prove it though.

Oh man, Big Oil's gonna be pissed that someone let their scheduled summer price out of the bag. Not that they give a fuck what the consumers think.

a few years a go I read that U.S. citizens would put up with $4 a gallon...not sure where that was based on,(probably family income median.)

K lets say that was based on speculation created to serve those who speculate for a living ...but there must be some truth to this, one of these gas price changes will eventually hit a collective nerve.

I guess only time will tell.

many choices, maybe start to rethink what all those tree huggers were yapping about. Might be the catalyst of some real change on a personal level.

once gas price goes up so does everything else, from electricity to gas, to production costs etc.

Jeremy Clarkson made a good point along those lines, addressing all the costs involved in drilling, transporting, refining, transporting again, etc. But, in a country that produces as much oil as we do, it SHOULD be less expensive and there's no fucking way we should be giving major oil companies tax breaks. It's the reasons behind the costs that aren't strictly related to production that piss me off.

Why would an oil company sell the stuff to market A when you can get a higher price from market B? Those thoughts are just downright anti-capitalist mr Shade.

I understand why you'd want the stuff for production cost - i like to buy everything i buy for production cost too, but most of the time those pesky corporations insist on maximizing profit, it's shocking.

And not giving major oil companies tax breaks, pfft. Your goverment is giving every major corporation tax breaks, it's not like Big Oil is an exception.

Also, the US doesn't produce enough oil to get anywhere near what it consumes. US production peaked in the late sixties, early seventies, remember?

Sorry, but i find your rant a bit unreasonable.

Not any less reasonable than yours. "That's the way it has been. That's the way it is. That's the way it's gonna be."

Our government...and by that, I mean everyones on this planet...is going to keep their foot on our collective necks as long as we allow them to. Every word of acceptance, is a word of encouragement to people who would rip what you have earned, and rightly deserve, out of your hands.

I'm saying it's unreasonable to feel that as a (barely) oil producing nation you somehow have more right to oil (or a right for cheaper oil) than the rest of the world. That's not how it works... unless we have some kind of socialist takeover in the US, and i personally don't see that happening any time soon. I'm saying it's unreasonable to blame the oil companies for it - i feel that to suspect them of purpusfully not pumping up enough oil to raise prises is naive. I find it unreasonable to expect that low oil prizes are good for the world when we suddenly find ourselves with more drinkers at the party and the keg half empty while the frathouse collapses around us.

1 gallon = 4.54609188 litres (http://www.google.co.uk)

1.94600 US dollars to 1 Pound (http://www.xe.com)

therefore.....

£1.21 for 1 litre of diesel for my BMW 320D SE here in the UK

1.21 x 4.54 = £5.49 for 1 gallon

£5.49 = $10.64

What I am trying to say here to all the fucking whinging american fuckwits complaining about the cost of fuel is that I have absolutely no fucking sympathy for you whatsoever. I only pray for the fucking day YOU have to pay for fuel at 10 fucking dollars for a gallon and see how you fucking like it!!!

Assholes.
