Gears of War (PC) problem

Hi there fellow nerds and nerdettes (as if...),

for the life of me, I cannot get GoW (PC) to run. And no - it's not the dreaded and infamous MS-Live-problem. I can start the game but it refers me instantly (after a few seconds) back to my desktop. Which sucks.

My system:
Intel QuadCore Q6600
8 Gig RAM
Win Vista Home Premium (SP1)
.Net 2.0 (reinstalled with Microsoft Visual Studio 2008)

Any help is appreciated, thanks alot in advance!
