IE7

Had automatic updates turned off for ages. Turned it on again yesterday and had a shitload of new cumulative updates (including .NET 2 service pack 1) plus the option to install IE7 which I went ahead with. Just seems like a copy of firefox.

Hmm, I think I preferred the layout of IE6. I guess it's what you get used to. Am I alone on this? Don't suppose I can go back to IE6 now?

why would you purposely go back to something less secure? they may have copied the tabs from firefox who copied the tabs from opera who copied.. etc, but security comes first.

No idea that IE6 was less secure but I found I could easily uninstall IE7 and I've now gone back to IE6. I prefer it.
Never had a problem with it really. Doesn't my firewall and antivirus protect me anyway?

Edit: According to what I've read, the improved security of IE7 apparently isn't all that great, but perhaps I'll get corrected on that. I'm also using firefox now which apparently is much more secure than IE. I know you know that though, what with you being a firefox fanboy.

fanboys don't use IE7 and Opera along with FF.

I keep IE7 just because it's already there and some things require it. I've tried Opera several times but just end up not using it. Guess that makes me a fanboy.

Some login sites (such as my college's) don't work well with FF, so I keep IE7 floating around. No reason not to have it really, even though I have the IE plugin in FF.

IE7 update royally screwed some of our server 2003 systems

At least until I twigged what had caused it. Go go patch testing!

IE6 has a bad rendering engine. IE7's is still not 100% but a lot better than IE6.

what im saying is, dont be surprised if your favorite websites will have graphical anomalies or even broken functionalities in the near future.

Ah ok, thanks, if that happens, I'll definitely go back to IE7.

Heh. Up until about a month ago one of my networks had to run IE6 due to a major incompatibility IE7 had with their critical online app. The interesting thing is that even though the web app now works on IE7 on XP it is still incompatible with IE7 on Vista.
