PS3 + MGS4 Bundle (Euro/UK)

Post by brisk »

Where can this be bought? I read about the shitty euro bundle we're getting compared to our US and JP friends, but I still want to play this game tomorrow. I've looked on the internet now at all the usual stores and can't find the advertised package (PS3+MGS4 for £309) anywhere. Has it sold out already?!

I'm gonna go into town tomorrow morning anyway to see if they have a deal in the stores, but if they try to bundle it with other crap and raise the price, i'm gonna send them to the cemetary.

Got it this morning... Because you want my mini review, here it is.

Great graphics on people.

Shite graphics on world.

Cinematics every fucking 4 feet. No lie. Play it. I swear to go it went "15min cinematic" > "10 seconds gameplay > "5minuite cinematic" > 10 seconds gameplay > "Another cinematic". Takes the piss.

That said, the cinematics are VERY well done. Shame this fucker wont go into TV or cinema, he would probably do great things.

Game play is... Well its Metal Gear, it hasn't changed much. Nearly met up with the Rat Pack or whatever they were called, and we had a power cut. W00tles... One thing I can say is there is fuck all stealth so far, and the Octocamo is fucking balls. Sometimes they see you, sometimes they couldnt give a fuck. Plus if this was real they would easily see you because most of the time the camo looks nowhere near correct, even when its at 85%+ camo.

For a few hours of gameplay, I would honestly give this a 6/10 "so far". Its just not as good as past Metal Gears were. The graphics are there, the presentation is there, but fuck, it just feels wrong... I hope it gets much much better later on in the game and doesnt pull a MGS2 on us like usual...

Oh and if I see one more fucking real life product in this game or one more SONY cock sucking moment where they have to talk about the fucking system for a second, I'll scream. Honestly its worse than I-Robot. I'm walking around with a fucking iPod for gods sake, in a battlefield... While drinking offical drinks... While Otocon is sucking on Sonys balls about my PS3 pad and my PSP and my PS3... Jesus...

i doubt kojima would do great things in tv or cinema. maybe its just me, but i think the story in MGS is kind of lame.

well, maybe not so much the story, but the way its told. its filled with junk and garbage symbolism.

some japanese things are like that. they have a billion little details and characters and try to be really deep, but it has the opposite effect and just comes off as lame and shallow. they overly complicate things and characterization isn't done well. though i must say that mgs3 did the job pretty well.

I ended up buying it with GRID and MGS4 for £345 from GAME. Fucking expensive, but oh well, i'm rich.

Gonna have a nice long gaming session this evening to break it in.

for those of you who got mgs4, how many played the previous iterations? i found the gameplay of the past 3 waaaaay toooo sloowwww and couldn't stand playing them more than 10 minutes. oddly though i loved the story and could watch my mates play the game for hours on end.

i heard this one is more user friendly in the sense that i can run and gun if i want or be stealthy if i want; is it worth picking up if i thought the past 3 were naff?

Ok, I may be starting to feel like I'm gonna eat my words with this game... Its starting to get really good. THe start is awful though, but later on, gets a lot better. Still no MGS1 yet.

Stu, theres hardly any stealth for the first few hours. Its exactly in the same as the old ones, you could run and gun in those too in that regard. It depends on your play style. As long as you get from A to B, its fine.

The bit in Act 3 where... Well erm... I cant say as "such"... But theres a boat... And a knife... In a certain somebody...

Jesus...

I haven't beat it, but it ranks in my top, well, 1... Of all time amazing cinematic moments in games... So fucking touching, so amazing... A work of art, really...

I'm just lost for words? I never thought this medium would impact me on so many senses as this act did... I was amazed at the action, amazed at the detail, amazed at sadness... I haven't had thoughts like this since Final Fantasy VII, and I think this surpasses it...

For once...

I'm actually gonna bow down and say I was 100% wrong.

This game is, without a shadow of a doubt, a master piece. Thus far, nothing has touched it this generation, and I don't think anything ever will. The cry of "Otocon!!!" actually sent shivers down my spine...?

Breathtaking.

I almost don't want to go to sleep tonight, I dont want to turn it off. Like I said the last game that hit me in this way was FFVII, and by that time (Aeries death) I was already 5 games worth of play time in...

Fucking amazing... Really, really amazing... Beats any blockbuster I've seen in, well, ever...

Fuck...

Mate, throw whatever you want at me.

I was wrong. There is no other way to cut it.

I cant say it without spoiling it...

Lets just say "retro", and not in style ;)

Makes me wish I still had my copy :D I have it on PC, it just moans it can only run in software, then quits :( Shame, i want to play MGS1 on PC with 1680x1050 with AA. Bet it looks... Well, like ass, but sharp :p

Twin Snakes?

I made the mistake of trading it in because it was worth a LOT. But its also rare as fuck, heh...

As for the complete collection, I have a 40gig PS3, and of course, its IMPOSSBILE for Sony to get PS2 games working via software, oh no, thats just silly talk... (Meh...)
