Seriously though, it sounds like this is your first long term relationship and as such it probably will feel like the worst when it ends - but there is no time like the present to get out there and jump back in. Whatever you do, don't be a fucking pussy and call/bitch/cry to the ex hoping she'll take you back - if she happens to, you'll be on the fucking leash for life because she knows she has you by the balls. If you want to possibly get her back (not sure if this is even possible) the best thing you can probably do is go on with life as normal and, like i said, start dating others. I say this because I got a chance to see all of this kind of shit transpire while I was a doorman at the bar. I was also the unfortunate person who had to listen to several sob stories from both sides. It's really quite simple though - get out there, date/fuck/whatever you feel like doing, have a blast doing it and soon you'll be wondering why you even wasted time worrying in the first place and you'll be better off for having been through this situation at least once.

While you are correct i take issue with your surprise at how long this shit can take. I'm not over my ex at all, and it's been over a year. And a girl i know has been missing her girlfriend terribly for over three years now...

Basically the only things that help are distraction and lots of time. The advice given by some people that you should start sleeping around isn't bad probably, but give yourself some time before you rush off into another relationship. It won't be the same and you'll both end up dissapointed.

And talk about this stuff with your friends, that helps. Even if they're just a bunch of maroons that give you advise that's worth absolutely nothing, at least they'll listen...
